CambridgeHOK Refrigeration is thrilled to have received a significant contract order after landing a £1.5m deal with Stourgarden – a major UK onion packer and processor.
The renowned horticultural business based near Colchester currently packs and processes 75,000 tonnes of Red, Brown and Pink onions a year, mainly to supply a high-profile retailer, global restaurant chains and food manufacturers.
Already one of the biggest onion packers and processors in England, they hope the installation of a secondary Glycol refrigeration system at their new-build processing and storage facility will provide a further boost to productivity.
Delighted to have secured such a significant milestone, CambridgeHOK Refrigeration General Manager Hayley Jackson said: “We are immensely pleased to have secured such a prestigious contract with a family-run business which has been processing onions for many generations because it underscores our reputation for designing and executing highly sophisticated bespoke refrigeration systems.
“We are thrilled to collaborate on such an innovative venture and are confident we will deliver a system to meet their exacting standards and help achieve their long-term business growth aspirations.”
The new project has been designed in an environmentally friendly way using low GWP refrigerant and will provide Stourgarden with washdown and general use hot water through heat that is recovered from the refrigeration system.
The design phase is already well underway, with onsite works expected to commence in the Autumn.
