In a dramatic operation in Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, authorities intercepted a lorry concealing seven individuals hidden among cucumber containers.
One of the occupants made a distress call to police, setting off a swift response that ultimately led to the discovery of six men and one woman, who had been secretly lodged in the vehicle for 18 harrowing hours.
The cramped and dimly lit conditions added to the tension for both the individuals concealed and the emergency services responding to the call.
The driver was soon detained on suspicion of facilitating unauthorised entry into the UK. He has been granted bail until April, pending further investigation.
