G's Donates Four Million Meals to Support UK Communities

Since its partnership with FareShare began in 2017, fresh produce giant G's has provided the equivalent of four million meals, supporting thousands of UK charities and helping feed millions of people in need. This milestone marks a significant contribution towards tackling food waste and food insecurity across the country.

G's partnership with FareShare, a charity network distributing surplus food, has helped support over 8,000 local charities. These charities serve more than one million people across the UK, reaching those facing food insecurity by redirecting fresh, edible food that would otherwise go to waste. From lettuce to celery, radishes, beetroot, mushrooms, beans, and spring onions, G's has worked across its supply chain to ensure that quality surplus produce finds its way to FareShare's vast network of local partners.

In the UK, a staggering amount of fresh produce is wasted on farms each year, despite still being perfectly good to eat. This comes at a time when food insecurity has doubled in just three years, now affecting over 13 million people. FareShare's network helps to alleviate this crisis, providing much-needed fresh produce to community organisations, including homelessness shelters, afterschool clubs, and lunch clubs for older people.

Kuldip Kular, Chief Operating Officer at G's Fresh, expressed pride in the work being done to combat food waste and increase food accessibility: "Growing great quality, healthy and nutritious fresh produce is what we do at G's and it is important to me that we make this as accessible to as many families and communities as possible. We are extremely proud of our partnership with FareShare and the work our farming and factory teams have done with the FareShare team over the past seven years to find innovative solutions to maximise the volume of high-quality excess fresh produce from our supply chains, rather than seeing food that is good, going to waste."

Simon Millard, Director of Food at FareShare, highlighted the increasing demand for their services, noting that "Demand for our food has skyrocketed, and the charities we provide food to have seen firsthand how more and more families and working people have been forced to seek help. Food insecurity, which currently affects one in five people, fuels both hunger and loneliness. The charities we support... will be working harder than ever this winter. We’re proud to partner with G's to help get more fresh produce to people in need, strengthening communities across the UK."

The collaboration between G's and FareShare is a shining example of how businesses can use surplus produce to make a real impact, fighting food insecurity and reducing waste while strengthening community resilience.
